Hands down my favorite food is corn. I have loved corn ever since I was a little girl. My dad would make fried corn which was amazing. I would butter it down, (this was before I knew butter was bad for you of course) I mean I would drench it in butter and I would put a pile of salt and pepper on a plate and roll the corn around in it. Now it would be ready to eat. Placing both hands at both ends of the corn I would bring it close to my mouth and take the biggest bite I could. Soaking up the butter with my tongue I would just chew on it until the little corn specks were gone. I would do this until it was just a bare cob and there were no pieces of corn in sight. I would then just suck on the cob potion trying to get all the juice out. My dad would look at me like what are you doing, but I would continue on. As I grew I noticed there were different types of ways you can cook corn. Cream style, whole kettle corn, fried corn, baked corn, and my all-time favorite corn on the cob. I also learned that a lot of things are made from corn. Corn flour, which makes the tortilla shells, it’s even in tooth paste. I heard people are even trying to make fuel out of it. This goes to show that we will forever need corn so it will remain #1 in my book.
Hi Jerica! My name is McKenzie Nofer and I completely agree with you! Corn is “da bomb”! Corn takes me back to when I was a little girl as well, when my entire family would head down to our lake cottage in Indiana. My grandpa would always cook up some corn on the cob for all of us and us kids could not get enough of it, especially after a long day of swimming! By the way, butter is bad for you but that’s why everyone loves it! If Paula Dean doesn’t care, why should we?! I still, to this day, drench my veggies in butter! It is ten times better that way!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest with you, I have never heard of fried corn on the cob. I already know it would be good though, because anything fried is good! I am extremely interested in that though so, if you don’t mind, I may just have to steal that idea! I do have to admit that the only thing that I absolutely cannot stand about corn on the cob is getting it stuck between my teeth! Thank goodness for tooth picks and floss because without them I, literally, have pick at my teeth for hours! It is just so darn worth it though!
I have heard something about the corn fuel too. They need to get on that pronto considering gas is almost four dollars a gallon! How ridiculous, right? But, like you said, corn is very essential so I am going to have to side with you and say that corn is also number one in my book as well!

ReplyDeleteHi Jerica! :)
ReplyDeleteI thought it was funny how you picked corn as being your favorite food! I absolutely LOVE it! I have to say that corn on the cob would have to be my all-time favorite! I worked at the Ohio State Fair, it’s in Columbus. I worked there for 12 days for at least 13 hours a day. It wore me out! They had some of the best grilled corn on the cob I have ever eaten in my life! I seriously bought it at least twice a day while I worked up there. It was the best thing I ate the whole time I was there, and there’s a lot of food there. The booth for it was just right across from mine so I smelled it like all day. I put so much salt on mine people look at me and say “that’s gonna clog your arteries!” I just laugh at them because it sure tastes good to me! That’s one of the things I love about fall, all the harvest that goes on so you get fresh corn on the cob. The only thing I hate about eating it on the cob is that it ALWAYS gets stuck in my teeth and it is so hard to get out. It makes me so aggravated sometimes but I still eat the crap out of it all of the time. It is also so messy. I don't know about you but I always get it all over my face and I always look silly by the time I get doen eating. Makes me giggle! It’s the price you pay for liking something so delicious I guess. I am glad someone enjoys it as much as I do.
Hi Jerica I also love corn there are so many different kinds of corn you can eat it is ridiculous. My boyfriends mom makes the best corn from corn on the cob she like puts a lot of butter and salt and pepper it just tastes so good. She also makes this dish with corn and corn bread its so good I think it is called scalloped corn I had her get me the recipe for it you would not think that corn would spark such a conversation huh? I have never heard corn trying to be used forngas that is so weird. How woyluld that work anyways? Who knows what people do with corn theses days or even with anything right? But anyways corn is the besttt!!
