In Class Writing #12

I am not shocked to find out that so many of the new inventors stem from other preexisting ideas that already have been invented. Steve Jobs the inventor of Apple even copied some of his own ideas from other sources. Once android tried to immulate him he threatened to sue. He lost the case ultimately but he still remains #1 in sales of phones and computers we all stem our ideas from someone else our mindset is that we can copy from other but once someone tries to copy us we get defensive. A man was sued for copying an Obama picture and making it his own because someone had already used and made that picture but he got upset when people copied and changed his original picture. Music is the same way no matter how big or small an arrangement of a piece of music is you can get sued for it because it’s not your original idea many artist such as Led Zeppelin used many pieces of music that stemmed from other artist but they decided to not make major changes to the music so it ended up sounding like the original. President Obama signed an act in 2010 to ensure that American money isn’t in foreign countries. The main point is that no idea that we have ever come up with has never been thought about or put into action. Someone else has already thought about it or put it into action. We are very creative but our ideas stem from others.

In class writing assignment # 11

So once there lived an evil Easter bunny he was the talk of the town. He went around every Easter stealing little kids decorated Easter eggs. The kids would wake up devastated because they looked forward to showing off their eggs to their friends. No one ever saw this bunny because he could disguise himself. He could become invisible so no one could see him. He also could change into Santa Claus and a witch. This bunny was very bad because around Christmas he would change himself into Santa clause and take all the children’s gifts. He really didn’t care of anyone else’s feeling because when he was little his older bunny brothers would pick on him for being a wimp and to soft. So when he grew up he treated others the same as his brothers treated him. One day he decided he was going to sit his brothers down and talk to them. His brothers were much older now but they agreed to it. He asked his brothers why they used to treat him like that and they simply replied that they were trying to toughen him up. He then said why you couldn’t just tell me that. They were stumped and couldn’t come up with an answer. He then broke into a museum and returned the most precious egg he ever had he then walked away and decided from that point on that he wouldn’t treat anyone else like that and give all the things he stole from the little kids back because he didn’t want anyone to feel like he did when he was little.

Once upon a time there lived a little girl by the name of Grace. She was a sweet little girl and was very loved by her family. She did very good in school and tried to be the best student she could be. One day she was walking and smiling down the hall way when a big humongous girl by the name of Katie shoved her off to the side. Grace be the brave little girl she is confronted her and said, “hey you shoved me into the lockers, aren’t you going to say sorry?” The rest of the students in the hallway stopped in their tracks to see what Katie was going to do. She looked around and waited until all the attention was on her, then she picked Grace up and dumped her into the nearest trash can available. Grace was so humiliated she ran home and cried herself to sleep. When she woke up she decided she was going to have to do something about Katie bullying her once and for all. She then remembered there was a store around the corner that sold spell books. She came up with the brilliant idea to cast a spell on her that couldn’t be reversed. She went into the store and asked the old man for the book, she paid and left. The next day she went into class and sat right behind Katie, she then cast the spell on her. She turned her into a mouse. Once her neighbor saw there was a mouse next to her she screamed so the class went chaotic. The teacher grabbed a broom and smashed the mouse and that was the end of Katie.

Readers Response #4

007 Is Back, and He’s Brooding

A.    O. Scotts essay on the new James Bond movie compares and contrast the different aspects of the movie from the early sixties all the way up to present day. The main changes that have taken place is the casting. The cast from the sixties movie has gotten older so they have had to replace them with new and more vibrant talent that can still take on the same persona as the first. The time and age has changed on how we view politics so adjustments had to be made so that it is relatable in present day. Back them the sex appeal had to be more modest but in today’s world sex sells so the sex appeal nowadays would be much higher. The way they dressed back appealed to a classier generation. Bond was suave the women were hot and they didn’t have to wear skimpy clothes to send the same signals as we do now. He talks about how the music adds to the film and how they were very clever in imputing the music to change the mood of the film. He talks about how the movies following the first finished off where the first left off and how they still added some of the same affects to show that the older films wouldn’t be forgotten about. The adding of new locations gives a good touristic effect to the film. According to him he thinks the film was well put together and makes a statement that the Bond movies would never be lost.

In Class Assignment #9

So I’m out shopping in New York for my sisters baby that is about to arrive in 2 weeks. I love targets baby section because they have a variety of cute baby clothes. I see the cutest little dress that has sparkles and glitter on it. I can just imagine dressing my little niece up in the cutest clothes. I turn around to see the rest of the selection they have and I bump into ex-boyfriend Brian. I am immediately shock and flabbergasted to see him because I thought he moved to California. Anyways I didn’t know what to say. He then replies, don’t I know you? We both start to laugh. I then remember how funny he used to be. Next walks up a woman, at that moment I introduce myself and I say nice to meet you. Brian then informs me that this is his wife and that they are out shopping for baby clothes because they are expecting a child in a few months. I am immediately taken back because when I and he were dating he said that he didn’t see marriage in his future at all. Brian shows no type of feeling in the situation. She smiles and tells me her name is Tracey. I congratulate her on her marriage and her pregnancy since she has no idea me and her husband used to date not too long ago. She walk away and says it was nice to meet you and continues to go back and look for baby clothes. I scold him for about ten seconds and walk off.

So I get a phone call at 2am that a 12 year old girl with blonde hair has gone missing from her Chicago home. The last time her parents saw her was earlier that day playing in the front yard with her toys. Her parents were nowhere to be found when this happened and has no clue on who would do this to their child. The police have searched high and low for the young girl but nothing has come up. Around 8 o’clock the police are alerted that a customer in a nearby Wal-Mart parking lot that there seems to be something fishy going on. She says she hears arguing and the crying of a small child. The police arrived on the scene and the suspects from the car flee, but before they do they hear a gunshot. The police immediately rush over to the car to see what is going on. To their sadness they see the missing 12 year old girl bleeding and shot to death.

Coroner:
I am very saddened to see this young girl today. She was apparently drugged and rapped before she was murdered. She had multiple bruises on her face and arms from trying to fight back against her attackers. She was shot in neck which pierced through her shoulder. The bullet is still dodged in her.

Prosecutor:
I have here with me today the parents of the young girl, and they are trying to receive justice for their daughter death. I have a young daughter so I can understand the pain they must feel. This family is very poor so they would have no way of pay me. I decide to take the cases pro bono. I will not charge them anything. I have learned that the suspects were never found. I promise the family that I will do all I can to make sure they receive justice.

2 years later they were caught!

In class assignment #7

So once here lived a little girl by the name Red Riding Hood. She was a sweet little girl who was much known around town. She lived in a little town called Macon, Georgia. This is a small little country town. Houses are very far apart, there are red dirt roads and has the nicest people you would ever meet. Red Riding Hood was a very smart young girl and she was only in the 5th grade. She won lots of spelling bees around the city and even competed at state level and won. She was also very good in math. Her parents and others also thought she was a little genius. She was also know for always wearing here little red jacket. She had this jacket from when she was little and she promised never to depart from it. She wore this jacket everyday so it began to deteriorate. One day after walking home from school she was struck by lightning. She fell to the side of the road and lay so limp. A man in a big yellow truck saw her and had to stop to help her. He immediately rushed her to the hospital to be checked out. Her parents were informed of this and immediately rushed to the hospital. The doctors said that she would be ok so they took her home. The next day came and Red Riding Hood wanted something to eat. She asked her mom if she could make her some spaghetti and it magically appeared in front of her. She had no clue how this happened but she was happy. It turns out that the red jacket that was hit by the lightning became magical so anytime she was sad and down, she just asked the jacket for spaghetti.

I actually like to see them up because many young people today are on Facebook, Twitter YouTube etc. This is a good way to keep us informed on what is going on in the world. I think it is cool to see the different ads up because it is easy to access and you do not have to sit down and read a boring newspaper. Many young people don’t read newspapers because it boring and it is not entertaining. Newspapers seem to be more targeted toward an older audience. There are many ads up that attack each candidate on different subjects. I think it’s a good way to keep us informed. YouTube is an excellent way to see the candidates speeches if you miss them the first time they are presented. I was able to see the Democratic national convention speech, because someone uploaded the whole thing to YouTube. I was also able to watch Vice presidents speech when facing his opponent Paul Ryan. The speeches for who would be representing the Republican Party were also up. If we didn’t have sources like these to use many people would have no clue on what is going on in the debates. The propaganda used is hilarious and it is good to see Politian’s viewed in a funnier way rather than them being so serious all the time. Not only do you see the ads up representing the Politian, you get to see the comments regular people post. You get to see someone else’s point of view on things.

In Class Assignment #5 (body 1)

This was my first time seeing the show Smash. It wasn’t that interesting to me. They started the beginning from a flashback that happened 12 hours previous. I didn’t really understand why they did that because it didn’t add anything to the show but confusion. The scene show two of the cast arguing about what song fit the musical and how they tried to rush the material to the set before the play was supposed to happen. The girls in the play were telling the leading lady to break a leg and that she would do great right before she went on stage. It was a rocky road to get to that point because there was so much drama going on before that.

So I woke up this morning not feeling very well. I felt very weak, my body was tired and my head was hurting. I thought maybe if I sit up I’ll feel better and walk around, so I got out of bed and walked around for a little while. After about 2 minutes I felt better so I proceeded on with my day. I called my BF to wake him up because we had plans of going out shopping today. I then got dressed. The phone rang and I answered and it was my BF and he told me that he wouldn’t be able to make it today because something came up. I was a little disappointed but I decided that I would still go anyways. My mom then asked me if I could take my sister to work because my dad wasn’t home to take her, I agreed. As I was driving her to work a car in the other lane swerves over into my lane I immediately hit my brakes. The other driver looks up and gets back into her lane once she realizes what she had done. When I got back home my mom decides that she wants to go shopping with me. I got a little impatient because I had a specific time limit I wanted to shop. She then asks me to do her makeup, and I agreed. When she’s ready we head out for shopping. I got a couple items and my mother was able to return her unwanted items. We stop to get something to eat because we were both hungry. After all of this my day was still productive and I had a fun shopping day with my mom.

Readers Response to Juno

I’ve seen Juno once before, but it didn’t really catch my attention. It was just one of those movies that you just watch to watch. By reading what the critic wrote on it, it made me think a little bit more about it and try to think from her perspective. I agree with her when she says that Juno wasn’t a good role model, because getting pregnant while still in high school is not a good thing. Things usually don’t get better for you and you have to struggle a little harder in life. I wouldn’t want my little sister to think that it would be cool to get pregnant at such a young age, but face it its reality. Things happen and people just have to deal with the consequences. I also agreed with her when she was talking about how she sort of kept cool during all this. Juno could be considered a role model in a sense of her maturity and how she handled the situation. She was going to give the baby up to a much more stable family that could provide for the baby in ways that she just couldn’t. She also showed her vulnerability when she honestly thought that the baby’s father would still want her to be his date to the dance. This was a key feature in the story because it was relatable to many teen moms who have boyfriends that leave them only because they are pregnant, which is very sad. Overall I liked the review on this movie because it gave some good and bad and it wasn’t just based on opinions alone.

“How I Met Your Mother”

I actually liked the show at first. I was kind of skeptical but it was kind of good. It showed basically how as time goes on how your outlook on life starts to change or doesn’t change at all. Two of the characters on the show went to college for their career choice, but they couldn’t understand one of the assigned subjects in school. Instead of study or at least trying comprehend, they decided to watch star wars to escape the problems they were having in school and to pass time. From that day on they made a pact within themselves that they would watch Star Wars every three years. As the years came and went, they noticed that what they wanted to be in life changed. One guy wanted to be married and pregnant with a child on the way. The other wanted a family he could call his own. Another guy remained the same he wanted to continue on with what he was doing, which was having sex with women then never seeing them again. By 2015, they all realized that they had really gotten what they wanted, so they became happy with their lives. It took fifteen years for them to really get out of life what they wanted and mature. The womanizer even settled down and found one girl he pledged to spend the rest of his life with, and refrain from any other women that would come into his life. Overall it was a lesson learner for all of them.

Writing Assignment #4

The hall was quiet until she heard the baby cry. She was a little startled at first but she calmed down once she knew what it was. She began to creep towards the room the baby was in, to see if something was wrong. She poked her head around the corner and she saw the baby just crying away. She really didn’t feel like being bothered but she knew she was going to have to do something; or the noise would continue. She decided that she would go make the baby a bottle because that always worked before. Once the bottle was complete she rushed in the room to give the baby the bottle, but she rejected it. The mother didn’t know what to do because the bottle trick usually always worked. The baby continued to holler until her mother picked up her favorite toy and handed it to her. The mother was pleased because now she could relax, but little did she know once she would walk out the room the baby would start the screaming up again. This time the mother was fed up, she didn’t know what to do, so she tried handing the toy back to the baby, it didn’t work. This time she screamed even louder than before and it seemed as if nothing was going to stop it. So she decided to give up and just walk out the room for good. She went in the front room and sat on the couch. She’d tried masking the noise with the television but that didn’t help. She’d tried turning on some really loud music but that didn’t help. She actually decided to leave the house to escape the noise, but her conscience started to set in. She began to second guess herself as a mother by asking questions like, “Why can’t I help my baby?,”  “Why aren’t I a good mother?” She then decided to go back to the room the baby was in and pick her up. The baby immediately stopped crying, she was amazed. She came to realize that all the baby really wanted was her love and attention.

Hands down my favorite food is corn. I have loved corn ever since I was a little girl. My dad would make fried corn which was amazing. I would butter it down, (this was before I knew butter was bad for you of course) I mean I would drench it in butter and I would put a pile of salt and pepper on a plate and roll the corn around in it. Now it would be ready to eat. Placing both hands at both ends of the corn I would bring it close to my mouth and take the biggest bite I could. Soaking up the butter with my tongue I would just chew on it until the little corn specks were gone. I would do this until it was just a bare cob and there were no pieces of corn in sight. I would then just suck on the cob potion trying to get all the juice out. My dad would look at me like what are you doing, but I would continue on. As I grew I noticed there were different types of ways you can cook corn. Cream style, whole kettle corn, fried corn, baked corn, and my all-time favorite corn on the cob. I also learned that a lot of things are made from corn. Corn flour, which makes the tortilla shells, it’s even in tooth paste. I heard people are even trying to make fuel out of it. This goes to show that we will forever need corn so it will remain #1 in my book.

10 About other classes

So today was a good day. I had 4 classes today 1st it was my math class, that class lasts about an hour and twenty minutes. This class starts at nine thirty every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I actually don’t mind this class, except for the fact that it’s so early in the morning I still be half a sleep. We’ve been learning about adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers. We’ve also dealt with negative integers decimals fractions and mixed numbers. This comes easy to me since I just graduated high school and we were way beyond that kind of stuff, but it’s a good refresher. I learned this stuff when I was in elementary and middle school, but it’s good to go back to the basics and freshen up on the foundations of math. I have a wonderful teacher, who explains things very well and that doesn’t mind helping you when you have a question. She even will spend time with you after class if you really need it. Sometimes things may not come to me as quickly as I want some it’s good to get a teachers perspective on things. I am a very visual learner so seeing things really makes a difference in how I learn something. She gives the class little scenarios that associate with the problem she’s trying to teach, then it seems so simple. I am glad I took this course instead of moving on to a more difficult one because this is giving me more room to start over and get help on the things I didn’t quite understand before and its supplying a good foundation for me build on.

Bechdels Readers Response 2

This story was very confusing to me I dont know whether it was because it was in a comic strip form or what but it was very hard to understand. This story seemed very dark and lonesome. Them living in a funeralhome is already creepy enough. Her family didnt really communicate with each other her parents were both engish teachers but they didnt really pay any mind to their kids. They showed no type of affection to eachother or to their kids which was very sad. Alison tried to talk to her mom but she didnt want to be bothered by her. Her father was weird he kept primarily to himself and was actually contemplating suicide which he ended up commiting because he didnt like his life. I dont think I couldve been Alison because her life was to dry and lonely. Her naming this story the fun how is ironic because her flife was the complete opposite. When her family was out fin public you would believe she had the perfect family but behind closed doors they struggled even communicating with each other. This goes o iin many peoples lives. They may seem alright on the outside but you would never know whats going on in the inside. The family decide to tell peole that their father was hit by a tractor trailer on route 150, which completely false because he decide to commit suicide. The story was very disturbing in the fact that she had such a lonely up bringing. Im not really into the kinds of stories so it wasnt that relateable for me.

Nemats Readers Response 1

I thought this story was very interesting because reading for her was like an escape from the real world. The books she mainly read were that of fairy tales and of imaginary places. She would come home from school get something to eat if her mom wasnt there and read the night away. I believe she was probably a lonely little girl whos only resort was to read because she didnt have alot of things to do. Most kids want to play outside and have fun but no she wanted to read. She asked her mother tof buy ger book but she said she could only buy her a book once a monthe because they didnt have alot of of money to be spending on books. She obviously didnt think that that was going to be enough so she decided to take some moneyfrom her mother and head to a book store she had saw once before. This simple act showed how she was not going to listen to her mother and get a book she wanted at any cost. She was very determined on getting a book to read so the older gentleman agreed to let her borrow thae books as long as she promised to take care of them. I actually like the story, because it goes to show you how one little act could change someones outlook on life. She ended up thinking of Albert as her angel that watched over her and protected her and gave her a way of escape through reading. The books he gave her were of the christian faith so she started to pick up the little details of this religion and applied them to her life and what she was going through atbthe time. So overall I like this story.

1 Miscellaneous

So today was busy as usual, I got up, brushed my teeth, took a shower and so on, but today was different. I actually got up early. I got up at 6 am. I have no idea why I was up so early, but I actually got to get everything done, rather than rush to find this or that. So the first thing I did was try to look for something to wear. I'm a girl, so I couldn't decide on what a I wanted to wear. I contemplated on this peachy orange bondage dress or this new red dress that I had just bought. I also had to take into consideration what shoes I was going to wear, which was very hard because I didn't know if I wanted to wear heels or flats. After all this decision making I decided to go downstairs and go outside to check the temperature because this would play a huge role in what I was going to wear. I found out that it was 64 degrees outside, so i ran back upstairs. This wasn't too cold but not too warm either so it was a toss up. I knew I wanted to wear a dress I just didn't know which one. Both dresses were so cute. So I went to my sisters room to ask her oppinion but she was sleep, so that didn't help. Then I went downstairs to ask my mom but she was in the shower, so I went back up stairs and i just sat on my bed thinking, should I wear this one or should I wear that one. It clicked in my head, why don't you try them both on and see which one was the most comfortable, since I was going to have to wear it all day. I tried on the red dress first, I thought it was ok but it just didn't give me the ummgh factor. I then tried on the peachy orange bondage dress it felt nice against my smooth skin, and it complimented my skin color. I thought I'd made my decision. The bondage dress it was. Since I chose that dress, I knew I had a nice caramel colored belt and a nice pair of caramel colored pumps which matched perfectly. I also decided to wear a off white colored shaw since I knew it was going to be a little chilly out. My outfit was now complete. So after I got dressed I had time I decided to go get some breakfast. I had a small bowl of cereal and some grapes which were delicious. I couldn't believe I was ready before everyone because this never happens, even my mom thought this was out of the ordinary. Once everyone was ready we loaded up the car and off to church we headed, but since we had an hour and a half drive I decided to go back to sleep to make up for lost time from getting up so early.

In Class Prompt #1

I am not afraid to read and write its just not enjoyable to read and write about topics that i cant relate to or that has made a significant difference in my life. As a child, I used to right poems about the things that I was going through'; which actually opened my mind, but as I grew up I stopped because it became less fun for me. Now I am creative in other ways such as drawing and designing things. One of the things I love to draw is people, because I believe it is nothing like capturing the way people look at that present state. I believe that writing is a way of expression but you can express youself in different ways also. I love watching and playing sports so I express myself through this oulet. I can be more self efficant by believeing in myself and achieving any goal I set my mind to.
