So today was a good day. I had 4 classes today 1st
it was my math class, that class lasts about an hour and twenty minutes. This
class starts at nine thirty every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I actually don’t
mind this class, except for the fact that it’s so early in the morning I still
be half a sleep. We’ve been learning about adding, subtracting, multiplying and
dividing integers. We’ve also dealt with negative integers decimals fractions
and mixed numbers. This comes easy to me since I just graduated high school and
we were way beyond that kind of stuff, but it’s a good refresher. I learned
this stuff when I was in elementary and middle school, but it’s good to go back
to the basics and freshen up on the foundations of math. I have a wonderful
teacher, who explains things very well and that doesn’t mind helping you when
you have a question. She even will spend time with you after class if you
really need it. Sometimes things may not come to me as quickly as I want some it’s
good to get a teachers perspective on things. I am a very visual learner so
seeing things really makes a difference in how I learn something. She gives the
class little scenarios that associate with the problem she’s trying to teach, then
it seems so simple. I am glad I took this course instead of moving on to a more
difficult one because this is giving me more room to start over and get help on
the things I didn’t quite understand before and its supplying a good foundation
for me build on.
Hi Jerica! By the way you are talking I think I am taking the same math class as you are. We are doing the exact same things as you are. Dividing, multiplying, adding and subtracting integers. We actually just took our exam over it. I’ve been out of high school for two years now and I still seem to have trouble with subtracting negative integers. I swear I don’t know what my problem is! It’s most likely because I quit taking math after algebra 1 and geometry and just went straight to business math. My fault I guess. Our teacher seems to be very much like your teacher. My teacher will stay after class and do whatever she can in order for us to fully comprehend the topic we are covering for the day. She takes us step by step and will do multiple examples just so we understand. I love it. I feel like I never had a teacher like this throughout high school which may be why I did so awful in math. I completely agree with you on taking this math rather than jumping into a higher math. Yes, it’s more money and more time. But, it is definitely worth my money. It is building me up for other math’s to come for example statistics. It’s like a building block basically. It’s a step towards a higher math. I’m sure our teachers will prepare us for what is yet to come though. Good Luck in your math and all the other math classes yet to come!
